ISNA Board of Directors Meeting
February 9, 2007

Present: Dorene Albright, President; Sue Gaebler, Secretary; Paula McAfee, Treasurer; Judy Barbeau, Jennifer Embree, Teresa Holland (pm) and Barbara Kelly, Directors; Ernest C. Klein, Jr., CAE, Executive Director.

Absent with Notice: Ella Harmeyer, Vice-President; Eleanor Donnelly, Director.

Others Present: Stephena Sheets, Psych/Mental Health Chapter; Glenna Shelby, ISNA Lobbyist.

The Board approved the minutes of the November 17, 2006, meeting and of the Executive Committee conference call on December 8, 2006.

The 2006 Audit Report presented by Mike Wolf, CPA, and Jason Bainter, CPA, Ent & Imler CPA Group, was approved.

There was group discussion regarding feedback from contacts the Board members had made with ISNA members and after reading the book 7 Measures of Success.

Robert Stone, MD, FACEP, Director, Hoosiers for a Commonsense Health Plan, made a presentation on Universal Health Care. The Board supports Universal Health Care but declined to endorse a specific plan.

The Board selected September 21 and 22, 2007, as the dates for the ISNA Meeting of the Members. ISNAP will have a continuing nursing education program on September 21. Awards will be presented at the luncheon on Saturday. All events will be held at the Holiday Inn Select at the Indianapolis Airport.

Linda Shinn, Marian Pettengill, Liz Jackson, Paula McAfee, Cindi Moon, Jean Macdonald, and Lana Richmond were reappointed to the Indiana Nurses Foundation Board. The ISNA Board also appointed three Board members to serve on the Foundation Board: Judy Barbeau, Jennifer Embree, and Sue Gaebler. Terms will expire October 31, 2008.

President Dorene Albright gave an oral report on her activities as President, including a report of the meeting with the Tri-Council Executive Committee.

Executive Director Ernest Klein reviewed his written report and “Member Trends” for January 2007.

An update on the activities in the 2007 Indiana General Assembly Session was given by Glenna Shelby, ISNA Lobbyist, and Ernest Klein, Jr.,

A report on the Indiana Nursing Workforce Development Coalition meeting on February 2, 2007, was given by Barbara Kelly.

The Board agreed to sponsor a booth at the Indiana Association of Nursing Students’ Convention on March 31, 2007.

It was announced that Nursing 2000 will hold its Nurses Celebration Saturday at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum on April 28, 2007.

Upcoming meetings of the ISNA Board: March 16 at ISNA with Consultant; April 20 at ISNA; June 8 at ISNA, August 3 at ISNA followed by 3 pm meeting with Tri-Council members; September 21 at Holiday Inn Select at the Indianapolis Airport.
