Gaebler, Secretary; Teresa Holland and Martha Thomas, Directors; Ernest C.
Klein, Jr., CAE, Executive Director; Gary Abell, Director of Marketing and
communications.
Absent with Notice: Cindi Moon, Treasurer; Judy Barbeau, Ella Harmeyer, and
Barbara Kelly, Directors.
Others Present: Opal Freiburger, Chair, Northeast Region; Joan Kern,
Northeast Region; Mike Wolf, CPA. Ent & Imler CPA Group (am).
• Approved minutes of December 4-5, 2003, meeting as amended.
• Accepted Financial State with “Supplemental Information, December 31, 2003
and 2002” presented by Mike Wolf CPA.
• Accepted revised 2004 Strategic Plan.
• Deferred action on ISNA Individual Member Option until June 2004.
• Approved use of scholarship from Arthur L. Davis Publishing by Indiana
Nurses Foundation for September workshop on Patient Safety.
• Endorsed Sandra Fights as candidate for Center of American Nurses Board of
Directors.
• Appointed Executive Committee for Advanced Practice Special Interest
Forum: Esther Acree, Chairperson; Robert LeVee, Vice-Chairperson; Marilyn
Loe, Secretary.
• Received 2004-05 Goals from Psychiatric/Mental Health Special Interest
Forum.
• Discussed problems being encountered by regions and scheduled a special
meeting of region representatives for morning of June 11, 2004, with follow
up by a task force which will make recommendations for presentation at the
September 18, 2004 ISNA Annual Meeting of the Members.
• President Joyce Darnell distributed a written report of her activities,
gave a report on the Midwest Constituent Member Association meeting held in
Chicago March 6-7 and on the meeting of the Indiana Organization of Nurse
Executives on March 18.
• The board noted the resignation of Janie Canty-Mitchell as an ANA
delegate.
• The Executive Director presented a written report, reviewed “Member
Trends,” reported that an agreement had been signed for ISNA to provide
management and staff support to the Indiana Nursing Workforce Development
Coalition, discussed proposed ANA Bylaws’ changes, and distributed a copy of
the revision to the ISNA Employee’s Handbook re direct deposit of payroll.
• A report on the Southwest Region was given by Martha Thomas.
