Hope you have your seatbelts fastened and that you like fast rides. This session, which is almost halfway over has been moving at a rapid pace. The week of January 21 is the last week for committee hearings in the original chamber. In spite of all the talk about doing something about property taxes, the legislators also have many other issues on their minds. The Senate filed 368 bills and the House filed 1409 bills. You will note from the committee agendas that the Senate Health and Provider services has TWO meetings scheduled next week.

HB1172, which contains language for Nurse Compact Licensure and many other issues, was heard last Tuesday morning. Because time was running short, many were not able to give the full testimony (including me) that they were prepared to give. HB 1172 is on the schedule for next Wednesday but only to vote on amendments and the final bill. No further public testimony will be taken.

As you look through the bill list you will see many that were introduced in previous years and are still trying to get passed (SB0159 Physical Therapists; SB0187 Fetal Development Curriculum; etc.)
