As you will note on the accompanying bill list, the House and Senate are
moving bills through the process. The “big” items--i.e., SB 577 Lottery,
HB 1001 Budget, etc., SB 503 Health Insurance--will be dealt with toward
the end of the session (April 29).
ISNA was successful in convincing Rep. Sheila Klinker and Sen. Connie
Lawson to add an APN to the prenatal substance abuse commission in HB
1457. It was amended in the Senate Health Committee and is on its way to
the Senate for Second and Third Readings.
The School Nurse Association and the State Teachers Association have been
working on a large amendment to HB 1116 in regards to care of diabetic
children in school. That bill is scheduled for Senate Health Committee on
Wednesday morning (March 21).
