April 20, 2007
One week left in this first session of the 115th Indiana General Assembly.
The General assembly must adjourn by April 29 but since that falls on a
Sunday, the leadership has said they want to be done by the 28th. We’ll
see. Although some bills are moving, major issues such as the biennial
budget, property tax relief, gambling issues, and health insurance issues
are still on the table.
When you check the bill history lists, I’ve only included those bills that
are still “alive” and just the recent action on the bills.
HB1821 Professions and Occupations
This is a huge bill, which became larger when the Senate amended the
contents of SB 335 into it. It will be heard in conference committee on
Monday April 23, 2007 at 9:30 am. Rep. Peggy Welch has indicated that she
will try to amend the multi-state nurse licensure compact language into
the bill. We’ll keep you posted.
That’s it for this week. Ella Harmeyer, ISNA Vice-President, and I are off
to Chicago tomorrow and Sunday to represent ISNA at the Midwest ANA
Constituent Member Association Spring meeting. Joyce Darnell, ISNA
Past-President, will also be in Chicago representing the Association at
the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Annual Region 5 Invitational
Leadership Meeting. Have a great weekend!
