Public Policy 101 Legislative Conference
More than 120 nursing students from across Indiana took part in this year's conference on February 10 at the ISTA Center in downtown Indianapolis. Attendees learned about how bills are generated and how the legislative process works. Guests heard from State Representative Peggy Welch (D-Bloomington), Joanne Warner (ISNA Nurse-PAC board member and Glenna Shelby ISNA lobbyist.

In addition, the group attended the Public Health Committee meeting, chaired by Representative Charlie Brown (D-Gary) which took place at the Indiana State House. Below are pictures from the day's events.

State Representative Peggy Welch (D-Bloomington) speaks about her experiences as a state legislator and offers advice on how nurses can have their voices heard in the state legislature. Representative Welch is a Registered Nurse in the oncology department at Bloomington Hospital and a member of the Indiana State Nurses Association. 

Representative Peggy Welch advises nurses to have their voices heard on issues that are important to them.


Joanne Warner, ISNA Nurse-PAC board member, speaks about the importance of getting involved with causes and making a difference. Warner teaches at the Indiana University School of Nursing.
