Columbus Regional Hospital Receives Magnet Status
Columbus Regional Hospital was recently recognized as a magnet facility. The
hospital is the first in Indiana to receive this prestigious status.
The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) established the magnet
program in 1993 to identify facilities with a commitment to excellence in
nursing services. The designation is the highest level of distinction ANCC
bestows upon organized nursing services in health care organizations.
This status indicates excellence in nursing services, development of a
professional milieu and growth and development of nursing staff. Magnet
status recognizes excellence in:
* Management philosophy and practices of nursing services;
Adherence to standards for improving the quality of patient care;
* Leadership of the chief nurse executive in supporting professional
practice and continued competence of nursing personnel;
* Attention to the cultural
and ethnic diversity of patients and their significant others, as well as
the care providers in the system.
The magnet recognition status is valid for a four-year period.
