Student Loan Repayment
Program
The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) is offering
the opportunity to health care professionals to participate in a Student
Loan Repayment Program. The ISDH is seeking primary care physicians, primary
care nurse practitioners, and certified nurse midwives who have educational
loans and are willing to provide primary health care services in an Indiana
Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA). The ISDH has a matching fund grant
from the Bureau of Primary Health care, Health Resources Services
Administration (HRSA) to provide loan repayment money to eligible health
professionals.
The purpose of this program is to increase the number of primary health care
professionals practicing in Indiana HPSAs. The Program is designed to
benefit the professional, who has the outstanding educational loan, as well
as the shortage area. The service commitment time period is two years. The
student loan repayment will be provided to the health professional at the
end of the first year and at the end of the second year of service upon
remittance of paid lender receipt documentation.
The deadline for submitting an application is February 7, 2005. An
